Auto-recording

Let SmartGroove start recording when you start playing.

Auto-recording is continuous, hands-free loop layering: each overdub pass stops itself exactly at the loop boundary and immediately starts the next pass, so you can stack layers without touching anything between takes.

Using auto-record

  1. Enable auto-record on a track with its toggle in the track controls.
  2. Start recording — your first pass sets the loop length, as usual.
  3. When the loop completes, recording stops and an overdub starts automatically.
  4. Each completed pass becomes its own layer, cycling until you stop it.
  5. Press stop to end the cycle; this also switches auto-record off.

Timing is sample-accurate — the switchover happens inside the audio engine, not in the interface — so layers land exactly on the loop boundary. Undo (Z) still removes the most recent layer, exactly as with manual overdubs.

The per-track toggle is the amber Auto lamp on that track’s pedal, at the bottom of the Looper view — click it to turn auto-record on or off for that track.
